Here are some songs to help expose students to different verbs and verb tenses.
|
Tourne, tourne petit moulin: This song uses approximately 4 common "-er" verbs in the present tense.
Here are some ways to use this song: 1) Play the song and ask students to pick out the four main verbs and what they mean (without looking up the words.) 2) Have students change the four main verbs to something else and see how it changes the song. 3) Discuss the verb tense and how they know which tense it is. |
Montrez-moi vos mains: This song makes use of l'impératif and inversion questions.
Here are some ways to use this song: 1) Students listen to song once all the way through to familiarize themselves with the questions being asked. Then listen to it again and students will answer the questions by raising their hands (montrez-moi vos mains.) Follow along with the what the chorus tells students to do (levez-vous, stand up.) 2) Use this song as a brain break and have students move around to the song and make an action to go with each question. 3) Have students write additional questions to go with the song and have the students share their question with everyone and play the chorus for students in between the questions. |

Assis, debout: This song makes use of l'impératif and inversion questions.
Here are some ways to use the song: 1) Have students listen and move to the song. This would be great for a brain break where students stand and squat when told to "Assis" or "Debout." 2) Have students listen to the song all the way through. On a second listen, have students pick out the difference between an imperative command and an inversion question. |
Au petit déjeuner: This song uses the verb manger with different conjugations.
Here are some ways to use this song: 1) Use this as a pre-task to expose students to -er conjugations. See if they can determine the endings of regular -er verbs with the pronoun that belongs with it. 2) At the end of this video is a mini noun vocabulary quiz. See if students can remember the different words that go with the photos. |
